and eric, no i don't actually fight. i've done some training, not at schools, but with guys from my gym, collegic wrestlers, some BJJ purple belt, amateur boxer, and we've had people together and set up fights at my house. being that i have a great understanding of the sport and am pretty powerful, athletic, and in great conditioning, my friends always want me to sign up for an amateur fight, unfortunately, i'm about 240, would probably lean up at 220, and would have to lose muscle to make 205 and i'm not going against guys with more skill than me AND more physically imposing. don't have much chance. i've been to the local events. some of the HWs are sloppy jokes, but some are huge! most of the 205ers in delaware, where i'd go, i'd have a great physical advantage on despite my skills lacking.
i always was getting suspended in school for getting in to fights, standing up for kids getting picked on, fighting older kids, multiple kids. i didn't win all the time but i LOVE being in the situation where i'm expected to lose. my brother is older than i am, and when i was 14 he started taking me to concerts and we'd get into mosh pits, and before you knew it, i was at some metal shows getting into fights with guys in their 30s. we were vigilante like at concerts, if someone was being a dick, too rough, hurting people, me or my brother, no matter how many of them there were, would turn it into a brawl. however, since i've turned 18, gotten out of school and stuff, i haven't been in many real fights other than with gloves for sport with guys in the area. i've been in one bar fight since my 21st and that's really it anymore.

thats cool, i just knew as much as you know about the sport that fighting was something you had done or wanted to do. I've had 2 amateur fights but the last one was in 07 so its been awhile. Right now i walk around at about 200 pounds but both my fights were at 170. The 1st one was against a guy who had won 3 tough man contest and he had no ground game and i got the armbar 51 sec into the fight. The 2nd one was against a really good wrestler, he got the take down but i pulled off another armbar.
theses days i work and eat to much to do any fighting lol

My son's high school wreslting team has a couple of part time coaches that fight. One of them is my neighbor and he holds a title in Desert Rage (he took it from Chance Farrar). He has really helped the high school kids their wrestling skills, especially the JV team. He's defending his title in a rematch against Farrar next month in Yuma so that should be cool.

I live in a small town (Holtville, CA) and a bunch of guys from here are in the Holtville Fight Club. A lot of them fight for Desert Rage which is also small. It's cool to watch people you know compete in a sport you love so much. A local guy opened up a cool little rock and roll type sports bar about 6 blocks from where I live and he sponsors some of the fighters. It's called Hot Rods & Beer so if you ever see that on anyone's ass..........LOL.
