They sure are promoting the hell out of this with Kimbo being in the new season of The Ultimate Fighter. First time I ever seen them promote one of the fighters more than the coaches. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Idkn1Pn_ezQ

I thought that was kind of strange considering all he said about Kimbo in the past. I hope he isn't going to be the next poster boy for the UFC.

I thought that was kind of strange considering all he said about Kimbo in the past. I hope he isn't going to be the next poster boy for the UFC. Well, they way Dana is.. he'll bash anything in the MMA world that takes even the little bit of attention away from UFC. Kimbo being Elite XC's poster boy was taking some attention away from the UFC at the time.. we all knew it wouldn't last, but Dana had to get his shots in. With that being said, Dana isn't stupid. He knows the appeal that Kimbo still has, and he wants to put Kimbo in there for the ratings, of course. I don't see Kimbo as being the UFC's "poster boy".. probably the poster boy for TUF 10, but after that, I don't think so. I see Kimbo having a short mediocre career for the next year or two, then he'll drop off. Even if he doesn't win TUF 10 (I see him winning a fight, 2 if he's lucky), he'll still get a few fights in the UFC because of his popularity. I don't ever seeing him getting a title shot, though. Mir, Lesnar, Velasquez, Carwin, Kongo, Gonzaga, and all the top heavyweights in the UFC would destroy Kimbo, especially since Kimbo has flat out said that he has no desire to learn the ground game. So, do I think he'll be the UFC's next poster boy? No. Dana is using him to boost TUF ratings, and that's about it. Maybe use him to boost ratings of a few future PPVs that will need it, too. I don't see him ever headlining a UFC event (I sure hope not, anyways), maybe co-headline, but won't get real far in UFC's talent pool.

I am one of those people that order all PPV's and watch all events that my time and DVR will allow (UFC or not) but having him on a card wouldn't sell me at all. I agree he would never get through the top heavyweights.

That's because you're not just a "casual" or "mainstream" fan, like someone who just said, "hey, mma's getting popular now, I think I'll watch the UFC with the rest of my drunk buddies, it's an excuse to drink, heh heh. Oh, Kimbo Slice, I know that guy from the internet videos that my friends showed me, he kicks ass! heh heh" lol
