I have posted something like this before, but I am still having questions. With Anderson Silva and Georges St. Pierre the two most dominating fighters in the sport right now, there isnt many fighters left to challenge them. It is almost like the title shot could go to anyone, even a journeyman type fighter.
In the welterweight division there are two fighters with win streaks who will face at UFC 126. That is Carlos Condit and Chris Lytle, there are no two other fighters are better rolls. Well of course there is Jon Fitch, but I mean who wants to see that fight again? Lets be honest. Chris Lytle and Carlos Condit are not exactly what you call the best fighters in the world, but their two tough scrappy fighters who will put on a show. So let me ask you this, should the winner of this fight get the next title shot? Shockingly I say yes. Because I mean Condit would of won his 4th fight in a row and 11 of his last 12. Chris Lytle would of won his 5th in a row and his 6th of his last 7 fights. So other than Jon Fitch (who I think may lose to Bj Penn) there is no other fighters more deserving as shocking as that is to say. Agree?
As for the middleweight division, it is a little bit harder to find a fighter on such a role. Chael Sonnen is suspended, Marquardt has been choking as of late, and every other top fighter is inconsistent. Sure Okami is guranteed the next shot, but not many expect him to win..including myself. Although I would not count him out just yet, but the odds are stacked against him. The only two fighters I can think of are Micheal Bisping and Wanderlei Silva, and given the fact Silva has defeated Bisping. I say if Wanderlei wins his next fight he should get a shot just based on his name alone. But maybe thats just me.
But you see what I mean? With two dominating fighters such as GSP and Silva, the divisions seem a little bit lack luster. Maybe we will be in for the biggest upset in MMA history or hopefully GSP will go up to 185 or We will just be forced to deal with this.
